Balluff’s new absolute magnetic linear encoders with Siemens Drive-Cliq interface are designed to integrate perfectly into Siemens motion controller environments. Plug-and-play installation makes incorporating them into the drive system easy. The controller automatically detects the sensor and its basic settings.

Regal Beloit Corporation, a leading manufacturer of electric motors, electrical motion controls, power generation and power transmission components, announces the release of the new Klamploc adapter lock for Sealmaster mounted unitized spherical roller bearings (USRB).

The new DPDM Multimount compact cylinder is Festo’s smallest, lightest and most economical choice yet in its class. It’s ideal for many applications compact cylinders perform, such as stopping or stabilizing small work pieces or work platforms in light manufacturing. It’s noticeably smaller than Festo’s widely used DMM compact cylinder and unique for the variety of ways it can be fastened in place directly. It can be mounted at the front or rear, vertically or horizontally, hence the “Multimount” in its name.

Festo has created the Simplified Motion Series of electric drives for jobs requiring very simple motion or positioning, with the added bonus of being exceedingly easy to commission. These all-in-one units are alternatives for users looking for pneumatics-like simplicity – with all the necessary components and modules, including the motor and controller incorporated into the one unit, with no external controller, control cabling, or control cabinet.

ABB recently announced the launch of its Induction xP Plus actuator for paper and packaging manufacturers seeking a powerful, efficient, rapid-acting and safe method for controlling caliper on paper machines calenders. Induction xP Plus rapidly ensures efficient heating up to 100 kW/meter in a highly-targeted area, providing unmatched flexibility for power density and heating zone width.

Zettlex position sensors (IncOders) use non-contact, inductive technology for precision angle measurement. Rather than the bulky transformers of traditional inductive sensors, Zettlex sensors use printed circuits. This enables compact, accurate, lightweight and robust position sensors with no contacts, no delicate parts, no maintenance, no hassle – just accurate measurements – all day, every day. IncOders are ideally suited to harsh environments – where potentiometers, optical or capacitive devices may prove unreliable.

Festo designed the new space-saving, flat, DLGF rodless linear drive as a very economical choice for applications where installation space is especially tight, like in electronics, small parts assembly, packaging and handling technology. Since those space considerations can also make a pneumatic drive harder to adjust or service, Festo also made its proprietary self-adjusting end-cushioning (PPS) standard with DLGF. Self-adjusting cushioning saves time and makes processes more reliable; the drive is always providing the correct cushioning.

Two fundamental development directions are currently discernible: On the one hand, the trend towards simplification, i.e. an easy introduction to robotics and intuitive operation of robots and assembly systems. On the other hand there is the trend towards smart solutions: More and more functions, sensors and intelligence are being integrated directly into gripper system components.

POSITAL has extended its TILTIX family of inclinometers (tilt sensors) to include explosion-proof models designed to operate safely in environments that contain potentially dangerous levels of explosive dust or gases. These devices have been certified in compliance with IECEx and ATEX directives and are suitable for use in mines, oil and gas facilities, agricultural applications, chemical plants, woodworking factories and milling operations.

The R16MTCPU, R32MTCPU, and R64MTCPU motion CPUs are dedicated motion control processors designed to execute advanced synchronous control functions and high speed registration, independent of PLC scan time, for maximum performance. The dedicated Motion SFC language and graphical mechanical editor tool are optimized for the toughest synchronous motion applications in the world, including high speed printing presses and large converting lines.
