AutomationDirect has added BPA series split-frame and BRM series solid-frame cable entry systems and cable glands from Bimed. Cable entry systems provide safe installation into enclosures or electrical equipment, securing cables and providing strain relief while maintaining enclosure sealing requirements. The BPA series cable entry system allows cables to be installed through an enclosure or other bulkhead surface without requiring disassembly of connectors from pre-made or terminated cables and without compromising environmental protections.

 

 

DCS Nidec Servo Launches Motors with Can Bus 1 400

Nidec Servo Corporation announced recently that it has launched the world’s first* brushless DC motors equipped with Can-Bus, a communication function for vending machines’ product pay-out mechanisms. Can-Bus (Controller Area Network-Bus), a type of vehicle bus, or an internal communications network that interconnects devices inside a vehicle or a train, enables microcontrollers and devices to communicate with one another without a host computer. Though originally designed for multiplexed in-vehicle electrical wiring that is required to be noise-resistant, Can-Bus is now used widely for devices to communicate control information in such areas as robotics, which includes transportation equipment and machine tools.

DCS Put to the Ultimate Test Part 1 Torsion Tests by HELUKABEL 1 400x275

Cables and wires in industrial robots and other moving machine parts are often required to withstand extreme stresses caused by torsion. Constant repetitive movements put materials under considerable strain. At the same time, operators expect components to function perfectly and reliably throughout their entire service life to avoid disruptions, outages and safety hazards.

For this reason, at HELUKABEL, we simulate intensive and continuous torsion stresses under realistic conditions with our high-tech testing equipment in Windsbach. We have several types of apparatus for doing this because some of our customers, for example those in the automotive industry, have very precise specifications for how a torsion test is carried out. The tests show that our cables and wires withstand speeds up to 1,000°/s, accelerations up to 2,000°/s² and torsion angles up to 720°.
