CARLO GAVAZZI is very excited to launch the release of two dynamic new families of solid state relays and contactors, which each address different ends of the solid state switching spectrum.

Carlo Gavazzi has launched the newest addition to its portfolio of 3-phase RGC3 Solid State Relays (SSRs). The RGC3.…48 Series, is a 48 AAC per phase rated device with a panel mount or thru-wall mount, natural convection heatsink.

The RGC3….48 Series of 3-phase SSRs have been very successful due to their recognition as one of the most compact 3-phase solutions on the market. To keep the dimensions compact, the existing RGC3 solutions at higher current ratings (above 40 AAC) utilize forced ventilation and hence require a supply voltage. The new 48 AAC rated 3-phase relay uses a larger, natural convection heat sink that eliminates the need for additional supply voltage if system monitoring is not required. The device can be panel-mounted inside of an electrical enclosure, or if a side-wall cutout is available, the heatsink portion of the relay can be mounted outside of the cabinet.

Thru-wall mounting offers an additional benefit of keeping the heat generated during the operation of the SSRs outside of the enclosure, away from other sensitive electronic equipment.

The new 48 AAC rated RGC3….48 Series are available with line voltage ratings up to 600VAC, either DC or AC control, with optional system monitoring featuring electromechanical relay alarm and auxiliary output. Applications include HVAC, Heat Tracing or Packaging/Wrapping, especially in situations where supply voltage is not available, or heat generated by the operation of an SSR has to be kept outside of the enclosure.

The specifications of the RGC3….48 Series include:

  • 3-phase, 3-pole switching solid state relays
  • Universal panel and thru-wall mount heatsink
  • Rated current: 48 AAC at 40°C per phase
  • Rated voltage: up to 600 VAC
  • Control voltage: 5-32VDC or 20-275 VAC
  • Optional system monitoring with alarms
  • Supply voltage only needed on system monitoring type
  • For resistive or inductive loads
  • High I2t rating of 15,000 A2s
  • 100kA SCCR if used with J-class fuse
  • CE approved, cULus listed

The RGC3….48 Series is available from Carlo Gavazzi’s network of sales offices and distributors in the Americas, or at www.GavazziOnline.com. More details on these new products can be found from the links at the bottom of this email blast.

CARLO GAVAZZI is proud to also announce the launch of the newest addition to its RGC Series Solid State Contactor platform. These single-phase zero-crossing relays, featuring an integral heat sink, offer the best in the class current rating of up to 37AAC at 40°C or 43AAC at 25°C.

With the introduction of the RGC..32, Carlo Gavazzi now offers a solution for switching up to 37 AAC at 40°C that fits in the 17.8mm wide platform with a depth of 103mm. The RGC..32 is offered both with screw, as well as box clamp output terminals. The version with box clamps is rated for up to 37AAC @ Ta 40°C. This higher current rating on the 17.8mm compact platform is achieved through the utilization of a higher rated power chip that has an I²t of 18000 A²s. Due to this high I²t specification, the RGC..32 can be protected against short circuits by B curve Miniature Circuit Breakers, in applications where the UL508 SCCR rating is not required.

The main benefits of the RGC..32 include the fact it has the highest amperage rating of any 17.8 or 22.5mm wide solid state switching devices available on the market, DIN rail spacing over 22.5 mm platform, optional cage clamp power terminal for wires up to 3 AWG size, and energy savings due to lower power dissipation.

The specifications of the RGC..32 Series include:

  • AC Amperage ratings of up to:
    - 37A AC at 40°C
    - 42A AC at 25°C
  • Compact 17.8mm width housing
  • Output voltage rating up to 660VAC
  • Control Voltage of 4-32VDC
  • High I2t rating of up to 18,000 A2s
  • cULus listed, EAC, CE, China RoHS

The RGC..32 Series is available from Carlo Gavazzi’s network of sales offices and distributors in the Americas, or at www.GavazziOnline.com.

DCS Put to the Ultimate Test Part 1 Torsion Tests by HELUKABEL 1 400x275

Cables and wires in industrial robots and other moving machine parts are often required to withstand extreme stresses caused by torsion. Constant repetitive movements put materials under considerable strain. At the same time, operators expect components to function perfectly and reliably throughout their entire service life to avoid disruptions, outages and safety hazards.

For this reason, at HELUKABEL, we simulate intensive and continuous torsion stresses under realistic conditions with our high-tech testing equipment in Windsbach. We have several types of apparatus for doing this because some of our customers, for example those in the automotive industry, have very precise specifications for how a torsion test is carried out. The tests show that our cables and wires withstand speeds up to 1,000°/s, accelerations up to 2,000°/s² and torsion angles up to 720°. Hence, we make sure that each product always meets our customers’ high standards, and that they receive the impeccable quality they rightly expect from us as a leading supplier of cables, wires and accessories for more than 40 years.
